This Association is by definition apolitical. It exists only to improve the everyday life of a part of the rural population of the South Katanga in the Democratic Republic of Congo between the Kundelungu and the Lufira river. Its main actions concern education, health, distribution of drinking water, protection of the environment (fauna and flora) and agriculture.

In Belgium, the Mikembo Association is represented by the Mukini Association.

MUKINI (which means village in kiswahili) is a legal and essential transit to effectively represent the Association with Congolese rights MIKEMBO in Belgium.
